Prof. Keith Ridgway strategic presentation
The brilliant presentation carried out by Keith focused on new strategic points.
First he stressed the importance of internal relationships and flux of technology expertise ofthe people in AMRC, the real human capital and precious real assets of the famous Research and Development Institution.
Moreover, with respect to the past, more group autonomy should be sustained, giving more freedom to the development of creative initiative. This, in conjunction with a clear focus on the finance control and the brand management will generate breakthrough innovations.
Following the same approach Keith Ridgway underlined that a better integration of the technical groups is fundamental to generate cross fertilization.
Concerning the new AMRC structures it is notable that the new Casting Organization has been created and fully operative, through the brand new £15 millions 1000 kg furnace, that is attracting new partners and supporters (it is the biggest titanium casting facilities in the world).
To attract future customers, AMRC is also pushing hard for the quick development of the Light Weightening Centre and the Fast Make Centre, exploiting the latest innovations in the field of the Additive Manufacturing.

New conferences facilities will be created and bought in the city center, in order to continue the series of investments for the development of the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District, that will transform and regenerate the city of Rotherham and Sheffield.
In fact, the ground occupied by the old airport will be completely renovated to build the futuristic technological park, following the new philosophy of Innovation Districts.
Talking about the AMRC international activities, Keith announced that the Korean AMRC is currently established to use the facilities of KCTech in Jeonju, and that its operability is already confirmed within the frame of the CCAM in Virginia.
The big question
Prof. Keith Ridgway concluded with a provocative question to the attendance. The proportion of GDP coming from manufacturing and services is respectively going down and stepping up in the last 40 years. So the big question is still open: today is it better to investing into the manufacturing sector or moving to the services?
Only in 10 years we will be able to verify the right answer.

Historic race parts, future technologies
Friday, 30, October, 2015
A meeting with Milano Racing president Patrick Canavese held last Thursday 29 October in Marseille (France). During the meeting some results of current advanced research on new materials and processes running in TEKS and D4S Motorsport have been presented by Dr. Eng. Sergio Durante to the executives of the French company.
Milano Racing is the famous company operating in the sector of the historic Motorsport. They are the official Abarth brand extension outside of Italy and worldwide known because of the preparation of the fabulous Lancia and Fiat rally cars of the past, like the Stratos, the 131 Abarth, the 037, the Delta S4, the Delta Integrale.
The meeting went into the details of the extension of the current collaboration to new and fundamental race parts of the body, the powertrain, the brakes and the steering systems.
The agreement will bring TEKS and D4S Motorsport to be one of the biggest supplier of parts for Milano Racing both for composites and metal parts. Of course both TEKS and D4S Motorsport will fully exploit the latest technology developed in the research projects to build these spare parts, increasing their performances, their safety and their environmental consciousness with respect to the 30 years old original parts.
Tests days at the South Garda Circuit (IT)
Friday, 30, October, 2015
The days after the Famous ‘Trofeo delle Industrie’ kart race, sported the perfect circuit conditions to carry out extended tests on new components made by advanced materials.
In fact, during the race, a large number of drivers are performing a big numbers of laps, putting high quality rubber on the circuit ground, consequently increasing the grip of the asphalt and making the lap time performance very fast and stable.
Exactly this condition is the preferred one by the test drivers and engineers, because it permits a precise comparison between different technical solutions, in order to select the best in class innovations and better understand some physical phenomena.
In those days we carry out tests on a high performance new design titanium water pump (produce by additive manufacturing), to stabilize the temperature of the engine in a very narrow range, and we did some screening tests on nanostructured coatings for gearbox components, dedicated to the reduction of the friction coefficient, with no needs of lubricant.
The results of the tests were positively interesting and useful to feedback the previously carried out numerical analysis.
