D4S Motorsport – EFESTO – FIDIA: Agreement to produce a futuristic parallel hybrid race car for Baja 1000

A collaboration between D4S Motorsport, EFESTO and FIDIA will shortly give birth to a new generation of hybrid parallel race cars for dirt application.
The basic idea is to twin two engines, a high performance internal combustion chamber racing V6, with a revolutionary super light electric engine setupp by EFESTO.
The combined power of the two units will produce a stellar 1000HP that will be transmitted to the ground through a D4S Motorsport full titanium gearbox.
Two options are under evaluation: a truck and a light rallycross car.
A running discussion with Armin Schwarz, a veteran of the race, will help to better understand the best technical options.
New logics and software strategies will permit to reduce the need of the batteries to the minimum, keeping the weight under strict control.
The exceptional quality of some machined parts will be guarantee by the latest generation FIDIA machine tools.
As usual in our philosophy, the car will participate to different races, to prove the technologies in the field and then re-engineered and transferred to normal production cars. The hard Baja 1000, the incredible Pikes Peaks and the stressing Dakar races are in the list of the best candidates.

The ring of Pragelato proposed a vibrant race, with a perfect ice thanks to the cold temperatures that have characterized the weekend. Three heats all three signed by Ivan Carmelino, who once again has put all his enemies with their backs to the wall. The point by the Marcauto was perfect and the driver did not commit the slightest mistake.
Armin Schwarz was the author of a starting pyrotechnics, second overall in a matter of seconds from Carmellino, showing the public that he is still the great champion of the time of the WRC. Unfortunately in the second race he was forced to remain in post for a structural failure that sent KO the alternator. Otherwise he would have been the game to the end.
Sergio Durante, fourth overall, managed a difficult day facing a structural problems during the second race, that slow down his DS3, then a third race without powersteering.
Second place overall went to the Opel Astra Aldo PIstono relegating the third step of the podium Luciano Cobbe. The pilot Veneto his second race absolute ice, the first behind the wheel of the Ford Focus WRC, has proven to handle even on the ice.
Among the cars in the IRC class 4 an excellent Alex Pregnolato perform a pefect race. While in Class 3 or reserved for N production cars is Sergio Luca Maspoli that did very well.
In WSC International to raise its voice is the Fiat Panda Piergiacomo Riva. While among all along the grouping “Promotion” it is the VW Golf Mattia Cola in breaking solo.

ICE SERIES at the starting gate!
This year the winter season seems incredibly lazy, but finally, the temperatures of the latest days, and the snow forecast for the beginning of the 2016, are finally very encouraging.
So the organising committee of the ICE SERIES Championship decided to start the races on the weekend of the 9 and 10 january 2016, with only few days of delay with respect to the original planning.
The Racing Teams are currently involved in the last tuning of their ice racecars.
This year the level of the drivers is really exceptional, with greatest specialist like Ivan Carmellino, 5 times Italian Champion, Alessandro Pettenuzzo, Matteo Antonazzo, Raffaele Silvestri, Aldo Pistono, Sergio Cantoni, and also some rally stars like the famous german Armin Schwarz and, as usual, also the french Christian Beroujon.
Sergio Durante that scored 4th overall last year will race with the D4S Motorsport Citroen DS3, a monster car equipped with a 450 cv engine and a full carbon chassis that weight only 960 kg; sequential gearbox and three high performances differentials complete the equipment of the car.
